The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) warned that education has become another casualty of the months-long conflict. C.A.R. education system was "very weak" even before the crisis, according to UNICEF.
The literacy for young women is 27.8% and for young men 51.1%. Some 65% of teachers are unqualified parents who have volunteered as teachers. School facilities are so poor that school is often cancelled when it rains due to leaks in the buildings, and everyday supplies such as writing utensils are hard to come by.
C.A.R. Renaissance Foundation Education and Training program consists on furnishing students and teachers with the appropriate tools to succeed in school. We strive to help in providing a better school environment to study by renovated school buildings.
Many young children and men are without education and feel hopeless about the future and their ability to provide for their family. Many find themselves recruited by militia groups as child soldiers at very young age. Renaissance Foundation program aims to provide trainings that will offer job opportunities, improve literacy rate and schooling for children.
